How does this work?

It’s starts with an email! You reach out to me, either with the button on the rates page or by emailing me at mhdwrites@gmail.com, and we’ll discuss the project. We will always start with a trial run for editing and collaboration services. After the trial run, we’ll decide whether to move forward with the project! From there, I will send you an invoice through PayPal. I charge half of the total for the project upfront, and the other half when I return your edited piece.

Why wouldn’t we move forward with the project?

Everyone has different needs and goals for their work. It’s very important that your editor understands your message and voice for the project. It’s also important for you to have an editor that can meet your budgetary needs, timeline constraints, and correspondence needs. This is your project, and if I’m not the right person to help you out, I want you to find the person who’s going to help you tell your story in your way.

Will you be helping me get published, too?

In simple terms, no. I work entirely freelance and am focused on getting your work ready to submit for publishing or agent representation.

What kind of work do you accept?

I am open to all kinds of work! However, I may not be the best choice for religious fiction or body horror. That said, by all means, submit your 2,500 word sample for a trial run! There’s no risk to you, and it wouldn’t be the first time a piece has surprised me!
